You’ve reached Aaron Gertler.

This is the place to read my blog, get in touch, or sample my other work.

Who, where, and when?

Aaron Gertler! We’ve been over this already. Born ’93, raised Delaware, now California.

What?

Productive member of society, if you squint. Worked in software, ran the EA Forum, wrote for Coefficient Giving and 80,000 Hours. Somewhere in the middle, I played professional Magic: the Gathering. I donate 10% of my money.

Why?

My selfless half is a preference utilitarian. I want us to live in peace until we choose to die, and get whatever we want (within reason). We’re a very long way from that world, and we have to start by surviving AI, but I see the vision.

My selfish half likes playing games with dangerous opponents, impressing my wife, and watching people work together to kill something evil.

How?

My life began with luck. My parents gave me love, health, safety, and respect. With the rest of Maslow’s pyramid covered, I was free to self-actualize. I wish the same for everyone.

Now what?

That’s up to you. Frankly, if you want to read something great, I recommend my list of favorite books. I’m a good writer, but I’m no Ferrante or Pessoa.

That said, my work is shorter and free of charge (while supplies last). If you liked this homepage, there’s more where that came from.
